British Values

We want our pupils to know that they belong both to their referring school community and to The Atrium family. This sense of belonging is integral to children’s social and emotional development and wellbeing.

At The Atrium we listen to our children. Pupils matter and that is why we give them a voice and space to express themselves, their thoughts and emotions safely. Through our weekly book competition, they learn about democracy, how voting works and why it matters. We have many opportunities to share ideas and news with the pupils and discuss their experiences of life in the context of the wider community, and the impacts they as individuals can have on both a national and global level. Through lessons like these children gain an understanding of why we have rules, how laws are made and why they matter.

From circle time dicussions and group activities to one to one ‘passion projects’, we link the HEARTS values to everything that happens in school and in the wider community.

We take every opportunity to celebrate national events such as St George’s day and the Queen’s birthday, instilling pride, not just in the school community, but in our local area and nation.

British values are reflected throughout the HEARTS Promise.
